A little update on our brothers studying abroad:
- 5 of our brothers went abroad in Italy and Spain
- Our brothers chose to study abroad due to meeting graduation requirements, completing a minor in a language, and for the travel experience
- They hope to gain valuable connections and experience abroad, while also stepping outside of their comfort zone
- Our brothers abroad miss all of the brothers back at OWU, but especially miss our President Paul, Gavin, and Sam
We wish you luck abroad and hope you come back with lifelong memories!

BROTHER SPOTLIGHT: Cooper Meek '25
Major: Economics
Hometown: Los Angeles, CA

A general background of Cooper:
I’m from Los Angeles, California and I’m an economics major. I’m the middle child of 2 brothers. My family and my friends mean the world to me. I love football, my dog Trouble, and traveling. I would move abroad in second if I found a good job out there. My graduation in the spring(god willing) will mark 100 years of OWU Meek FIJIs. Also Fun fact, I had never seen snow until I got to Ohio as an 18 year old. I’ve also met Britney Spears. Proud to be!

What are you involved with at OWU:
I’m currently a mentor at the international off campus programming office, as well as a member of the Economics Management Fellows and Corns Business and Entrepreneurial Scholars. I’m also a member of a Theory to Practice Grant group heading to Sicily to study local entrepreneurship.

What is your favorite FIJI memory:
Senior send off last year or any anchor splash (we’re currently back to back to back to back champs).

Where do you see yourself post-graduation:
Post-graduation I’ll be moving back to LA to pursue a career in Sports Media.

If you could be another brother for a day, who would you be?
I would want to be Jacob DeMaggio because he’s one of the most cool, calm, and collected people I’ve ever met. He’s involved in a million things, loved by everyone, but always finds time for his brothers and his house and this place wouldn’t function without him.

What advice would you give to everyone in the chapter:
Joining FIJI was one of the greatest things that ever happened me. If you put your time, effort, and love into this house, the rewards are endless. This is a family that is not for college days alone.

Our president, Cooper Meek, is an outstanding member of our fraternity and we are proud to call him a brother.

A general background of Nathan:
I am of Central American descent, as both my parents were born and raised in the small country of Honduras. I grew up in the small town of Clinton, North Carolina, and I am the middle child of three sons. I have a strong passion for soccer as I have been playing my entire life and my favorite team is Barcelona.

What are you involved with at OWU:
During my time at OWU I served in various clubs. I was once a member of VIVA, the Spanish Club, I served as the Community Relations Director for IFC, I reestablished the OWU Soccer Club and served as its president, and currently I am the historian for FIJI.

What is your favorite FIJI memory:
My favorite FIJI memory is not attributed to one specific moment, but rather the moments we share attending soccer games. The atmosphere of attending the games is electric and it’s always a fun moment with my brothers cheering and supporting our soccer team and my brothers on the team.

Where do you see yourself post-graduation:
Post-grad I see myself moving back to my home state of North Carolina and pursuing a career in the finance service industry and leaving my mark on the world.

What advice would you give to everybody in the chapter:
Be confident in everything you do and believe in yourself, overcome your mind and success will follow, most of the time, our mind is our greatest enemy.

I am a Filipino American who grew up in Japan and California. I also went to an international boarding high school in Thailand. I have been playing soccer since I was 7 years old, my favorite candy is Reeces Pieces, and I am a big dog lover.

What are you involved with at OWU?
I am the president of the OWU Soccer Club the PR chair for Horizons. I am also a part of FIJI and am on the Esports team for CS2 and Valorant.

What is your favorite FIJI memory?
My favorite FIJI memory was our formal last spring.

Where do you see yourself post-graduation?
I see myself in Columbus attending OSU for my masters in Sports Medicine.

If you could be another brother for a day, who would you be?
I would be Cooper, as he's the president, and he's just a great role model as a person and as a brother.

What advice would you give to everybody in the chapter?
Just be yourself, get involved, and get close to your brothers, as they are brothers for life.

We had 3 brothers go to Ekklesia, @paultscull, @trippierce, and @joewamalwa. They had a good experience and represented the Fiji values and fraternity well.

We had 4 brother's volunteer to participate in Camp OWU as camp leaders for the incoming freshman. It was @nzuniga1 and @kegs22 3rd year participating and it was the first year for @jon.walker.02 and @jprosel39.

We are proud of what all of the brothers did this summer and are excited for this academic year.
